The semiconductor shortage crisis has crippled the factories of major manufacturers. But what are the reasons for this?
The situation with semiconductors is more complex than it may seem at first glance. There are many factors contributing to the problems of the automotive industry.
Of course, the main reason for this is COVID-19. Lockdowns meant that some mines for key minerals had to temporarily shut down, which caused quite a shortage. When you add to that the sudden increase in demand for electronics due to work or remote learning, you have a picture that is really not too interesting.
Unfortunately, automotive was not in a privileged place in this chain, and the additional supply delays were a kind of nail in the coffin. The only thing left to do was to wait for the situation to improve.
