Although the acoustic value is the most important element of the sound system, it is worth focusing on aesthetic qualities and appearance. Even the best equipment cannot protect a clumsy mess. In the vast majority of cases, before audio testing, we take a close look at the speakers – their placement, padding, fit, and symmetry with respect to each other. Find out how to avoid fundamental mistakes.
Building a car audio system is an interesting adventure for every handyman. In order to complete the set, it is necessary to spend tedious hours searching for the most valuable information on the art of selecting elements. The knowledge gained will certainly prove helpful in the near future. And what if we already have all the equipment?
At this point the actual work begins. A neatly finished car audio is a showpiece of your four wheels. Make sure that the interior of your car presents itself in the best possible way. Paying all the attention to the technical side can seriously disfigure your car. Uneven holes, protruding parts and wires are a sign of a notorious “rural” tuning. How to do it right?
Ideally, you should use the solutions provided by the car manufacturer. Ready-made holes and grilles just look good. However, there is a limitation. Cars usually have a fairly standard, not to say poor, sound system that meets the needs of the least demanding. It is vain to look here for a box, or good quality speakers and an expert connection.
However, this solution is not very functional. When building a car audio system, you want to use the space to the limit. Therefore, you need to think carefully about the location of new sound system elements. It may turn out that the old installation will not meet the requirements and you will have to buy new cubes, speaker cables or special adapters
Remember about the depth needed for proper installation of speakers. It is also important for structural reasons – the hole and mounting must not affect the sound quality. The speaker must not be compressed, there must be free flow between the front and rear part of the diaphragm
In fact, this process begins even before the new sound system is installed. Make sure that the speaker locations are as rigid as possible – vibrations cause quality loss. You can use specially designed rings to make this task easier and faster
It is worth reminding that when installing car audio, you should properly soundproof the car doors. We recommend bituminous mass. As a rule, the sound system circuit should be a closed space. After inserting and connecting the speakers, the interior of your car will not be one of the most beautiful. To remedy this you will need an expert method of masking the interference with the body structure. One solution is to use resin and putty, which will allow you to form any shape you want.
I would like to point out, however, that this is a laborious process. Applying resin and systematic modeling and smoothing takes time. Not to mention the subsequent application of putty and sanding. However, this is mostly true for bass boxes or post modifications. If the car component in question is covered with a thick fabric, the process will not be as demanding. The basis is the proper sealing of the speakers
The last stage consists of upholstery. Various materials are used for this purpose – natural leather, upholstery fabrics (e.g. alcantara) or leather. There are colors to choose from. In professional workshops upholstery fabrics similar to those used for headliners or other interior elements are used.
